As i wrote earlier i’ve been trying out Windows 7 on my laptop, and for the first time i’m really falling in love with some Windows features.
Haven’t really tried out gaming etc. on it yet but as far as window-swapping goes i’m actually really impressed by Microsoft on that point that they really are making things alittle more minimalistic and floating.
The taskbar
It’s really well done and they’ve really expanded the Quick Launch in the earlier versions and this field is now a part of the normal taskbar.

This is what the normal taskbar looks like, with the selected programs that i’ve pinned to my taskbar.
One of the first things that i fell in love with is that it’s really small, like i like it. And as showing by the next pin, you’re not limited to have a max number of icons.
This is what the bar looks like when you’ve started some programs. It doesnt move to another part or duplicate as it does in vista/xp. As you can see i’ve started Mozilla, Dreamweaver and Corel. If i were to open additional windows of the same program, they will group together as shown by the next image.
Now i have three folders open, and they all group toghether so nicely, when i hover over the item on the taskbar that little window comes up so i can choose wich folder i want to open. In adittion to this, by hovering over the images that pop up all other windows close down and only the window that you’re howering over is shown. Offcourse, you can choose not to group simmiliar programs together.
In other and the most radical change (to microsoft) is that the taskbar is no longer that solid. The program you start first is on the far left, the next places on that etc. Now you can re-arrange how you want the programs to appear by dragging them to the location and swapping places with other programs.
There are alot other functions that are life savers but i’ll get back to those later. Meanwhile, go to your tracker and download the latest version of Windows 7 Beta!
